After a season-opening 6-2 loss at Hastings last Saturday, the Tigers rebounded for a 4-3 win over Rochester John Marshall Tuesday night at the Rochester Recreation Center.

Kevin Olund scored twice, his second and third goals in two games, and Grant Hauswirth and Jack Erickson also found the net for the visitors in the victory over their Section 1AA rivals.

"This was a good, solid section road win for a young team," Tiger coach Keith Revels said. "We grew up a bit as a team and continued to improve."

Hauswirth's goal on an assist from Erik Holmstrom opened the scoring in the first period and Olund's second goal of the season made it 2-0 Farmington at the end of the first period.

"We played a much better first period than we did in Hastings," Revels said. "We had a lot of good looks with pucks at the goal mouth in both the first and second periods."

The Rockets scored first in the second period but Erickson's goal off a Chris Fitzgibbon's pass 31 seconds later made it 3-1at the final break.

Olund score on the power play (from Holmstrom) early in the final period gave the Tigers a three-goal lead before JM made it a game with a pair of late scores, the last on the power play with under five minutes to play.

Tiger goalie Austin Krause, who played just 68 minutes last year, stopped 15 of 18 shots to earn the win in his first start of the season.

The Tigers outshot the Rockets by a count of 28-18.

The game was marred by an injury to the Tigers' John Siebenaler who required a trip to the emergency room after suffering a crushing hit.

"It's disappointing that these types of hits keep taking place," Revels said. "I was proud of how our team reacted after the injury. We stayed disciplined and composed."

The Tigers make a return trip to Rochester Thursday night to take on Rochester Century in another battle of section rivals.
