Girls Tennis: A clean sweep

Ryan Jara won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles
After being rained out in middle of a Tuesday match at Bloomington Jefferson the Tigers played their first official dual meet of the season Wednesday, sweeping a non-conference match-up at Faribault 7-0.

All of the wins came in straight sets. The three Farmington doubles teams were especially dominant, winning by a combined lopsided 36-8 count.

"I thought we played well," coach Jack Olwell said. "We could have been sharper but we also overcame some difficulties."

Olwell said he was especially impressed with the play of first doubles team Lindsey and Beth Fairchild who posted back-to-back 6-0 wins.

"They continued their exceptional play," he said. "They have played seven sets so far this year and lost only three games total. Pretty amazing start"

The Tigers don't get much time to savor their first win of the year. Friday they play host to Cannon Falls, Belle Plaine and New Life Academy in a four-team meet at the Boeckman Middle School courts.
