Alumni Tracker: Magalis still flying high

Four years ago as a Tiger senior Tyler Magalis won the one-meter diving title at the Class AA boys' swimming and diving meet.

This weekend at the NCAA Division II national championship in Geneva, Ohio, the St. Cloud State University junior proved he is among the best collegiate divers in the land.

Magalis led the one-meter diving competition until the final dive, eventually placing third with a point total of 548.45. Collin Vest of Clarion University won the one-meter title with 552.40 points. Clarion's Heath Calhoun took second with 551.40.

On the three-meter board Magalis ranked fifth in the preliminaries and then moved up a spot to fourth in the finals with a point total of 519. Calhoun set a national record in winning the event with 615.95 points.
