34 saves
For the second time in three nights the game came down to the wire and this time the Tigers skated off a winner.
Krystal Baumann provided the deciding goal, scoring 33 seconds into overtime to give coach Jon Holmes team a hard-fought 4-3 win over Wayzata Thursday night, Nov. 18, at Schmitz-Maki Arena.
Baumann also had a pair of assists for Farmington, running her two-game point total to seven. Linemate Hannah Alexander finished with a goal and three assists to give her seven points in the early going.
The contest was a wide-open, back-and-forth affair with both teams scoring a goal in each of the first three periods. The Tigers scored first in each frame only to see the Spartans rally and tie the score.
Bria Donnelly's first goal of the season early in the opening period gave the locals their first lead.
Seventh-grader Chloe Batta notched her first varsity goal in the second and Alexander netted her first of the year in the third.
Batta also contributed a pair of assists in her home debut. Rachel Peroutky added an assist for the winners.
Both teams had more than their share of scoring opportunities with the visitors finishing the night with a 37-34 edge in shots on goal.
Tiger goalie Jessica Erchul recovered from a shaky third period in Tuesday's 5-4 loss at Breck to record 34 saves, a percentage of .919.
The Tigers conclude their three-game opening week Saturday afternoon when they entertain Lakeville South. Face-off is 3:00 p.m. at Schmitz-Maki Arena.
