Hello parents and supporters of Farmington football!
As some of you may know there has been a renewed focus to
get individual booster clubs established to help our Farmington High School
athletic programs participate and compete at their highest levels. With that
being said Farmington Football is organizing to establish the Farmington
Football Booster Club and we need your help. Thanks to the Siegler,
Groves, Bray, Reed and Fox families for leading our effort to this point.
A meeting will be held at 7:00pm on Monday February 23,
2014 at Farmington High School in the large lecture hall to take the
first official step in creating the booster club.
A booster club is an organization that
is formed to support (e.g. coordinate events, raise money, etc.) an
associated club, sports team, or
organization. Booster clubs are typically organized and operated by
the parents of the students and the alumni of the supported organization.
A booster club’s main function is to develop a support structure for a program
and to raise funds that will be spent (in our case) on Farmington football
programs and team needs, as approved by the club.
To establish the Farmington Football Booster Club there are
several things that need to take place. First, the club must be
officially organized by elected officers. At this first meeting we will
nominate and elect these officers. The elected officers will then be
tasked with officially organizing the club, complete with By-Laws and a clear
stated purpose of the club. The club then registers with and coordinates
with the FHS Athletics office and the State of MN as a non-profit
organization.
Once the club is established monthly meetings will be held
to conduct club business. During the year and especially during football
season all members of the booster club (not just elected officers) will have
opportunities to contribute to the success of the club and ultimately our
Farmington football program. So, even if you are not available to serve
as an officer of the club please attend our first meeting so that you can help
elect our trusted board of officers and establish the Farmington Football
Booster Club.

If you are able to volunteer your time as a voting board
member of the Farmington Football Booster Club please reply to this e-mail and
let us know which position you may be interested in. We will also be
taking nominations and answering questions at the meeting prior to the
vote. If you or your family have in the past, present, or future
participated in or enjoyed Farmington football please come to this meeting to
help us make it even better for the future.
