Things went mostly according to script at the first-ever Missota Conference Relays held Thursday at the Dodge Middle School pool.

Chanhassen, Northfield and Farmington finished 1-2-3 in the meet which consisted entirely of relay events. Even the diving competition was conducted in "relay" mode.

Chanhassen edged Northfield 518-510 for the team title with the Tigers third at 468. Shakopee totaled 434, followed by Chaska 334, Red Wing 220, New Prague 180 and Holy Angels 36.

"We're looking strong in the water right now," Tiger coach Jen Marshall said. "At the same time, there's a lot of work to do on the little things in races. We can be better off the walls and in finishes."

Marshall also couldn't have been pleased that her 400 medley team was disqualified, dropping 28 points from the final team score.

On the bright side, the Tigers scored two first place and two second place finishes in the eight swimming events.

Farmington scored a decisive win in the 400 medley relay with Cora Ruzicka, Ellie Sundet, Chloe Holton and Kaitlin O'Reilly clocking 4:23.24, a full six seconds in front of runner-up Northfield.

The second blue ribbon performance came from the quartet of Kirsten Kracke, Sundet, Ruzicka and O'Reilly who led the pack in the 850 freestyle relay in 8:51.59.

The second place efforts came in the 200 butterfly relay (O'Reilly, Kracke, Holton and Ruzicka) and the 200 backstroke relay (Robin Ellis, Sundet, Hannah Seitzinger and Kracke)

Nikki Cayard, Tori Sontag, Kendall Novak and Melanie Brothers combined efforts for third and fourth place finishes in the diving competition.
