The Tigers finished 10th in a 14-team field at the Panther Invitational held Saturday, Dec. 4, at Lakeville North.
Senior Carl Elmer, a state meet entrant as a junior, looked in mid-season form, dominating three outmatched opponents to run away with the 145 lbs. weight class.
Eighth-grader Brayden Chapman had a solid opening meet, winning three of four matches to place third at 119 lbs. One of the victories came on a 9-8 decision over second-seeded Colton Pasvogel in the opening round. Chapman pinned the fourth-seed in the third place match.
Senior Tyler Beckett lost his opening round match but came back to win three straight, two by fall, to place fifth at 171 lbs.
Seventh-grader Taylor Venz split four matches and took sixth place at 103 lbs. in his first varsity tournament.
Matt Rustad, Jake Rudeen, Joe Hoeve and Bret Hoffman each won one match in the season opener.
The Tigers return to action Friday, Dec. 10, when the travel to Big Lake for a dual meet.
