Boys Track: A good start
The Tigers got their first taste of on-the-track competition Friday when they joined partial teams from Prior Lake, New Prague, Lakeville South, St. Paul Highland Park, Bloomington Jefferson and Bloomington Kennedy for a unscored meet on the indoor oval at St. Olaf College.
"It was a good first meet and because it was an early season meet we didn't have all our athletes available," coach Brian Helmstetter said. "But we saw many good things out of the ones we brought. Now we have stats in the book and the boys can adjust and set new goals...It's nice seeing all of the potential."
Two school indoor records fell at the meet: The 4x400 relay team of Tyler Lerbakken, Justin Hyytinen, Tommy Weigel and Tanner Grubb clocked 3:36, and Hyytinen set a new mark in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:37.
Other first meet highlights:
4x200 relay team of Weigel, Jack Erickson, Ryan Parco and Grubb
4x800 relay team of Clayton Webb, Jard Wolt, Erc Stoeckman and Lerbakken
Hurdlers Dan Berg, Nehemiah Rockett and Mikkel Peterson
Sprinters Erickson, Mason Auge and Leslie Adjei
Throwers CJ Wynings, Tanner Thode, Mike Husnik, Jake Lee and Josh Patterson
Distance runners Adam Wallenta and Hunter Sevenich
800-meter runner Luis Rodriguez
400-meter runners Wolt and Devon Webb
