Farmington High School celebrates boys wrestling team’s first state tournament with pepfest and more
February 19, 2015, Farmington, Minn. – Next week the Farmington High School Boys Wrestling Team will be going to the state tournament for the first time. In celebration of the team’s hard work and success over the season, Farmington High School will be hosting a pepfest on Wednesday, February 25 at 2:41 p.m. in the FHS Main Gym, followed by an official send-off. The wrestling team will depart at 3:15 p.m. for the state tournament with a fire truck escort from the FHS parking lot – because those boys are on fire!

Parents, students, and community members are invited to cheer on the wrestling team as they compete at the Xcel Energy Center on Thursday, February 26. The tournament begins at 9 a.m. Tickets are $9 for students and $14 for adults per session (the day will likely entail two sessions for a total cost of $18 or $28 respectively).  Tickets will be on sale in the FHS athletics office beginning on Monday, February 23 at 8 a.m., or tickets may be purchased at the door.  Fan t-shirts (Mat Rat Shirts) will also be available for purchase in the FHS athletics office on Monday, February 23.

FHS will provide a fan bus for students in grades 9-12 who wish to support the team at the state tournament, provided enough students sign up. The bus will depart from the East Door of the high school on Thursday, February 26 at 7:45 a.m. and will return when the wrestling team has finished competing (anywhere from 1:30-4 p.m.). Students riding the bus to the Xcel Energy Center are required to ride the bus back. The cost for the fan bus will be $10 and does not include the cost of the ticket to the tournament. Like every school day, if a student will be absent from classes a parent or guardian must call the school to excuse the student.

After the tournament, the wrestling team will be officially welcomed home on Sunday, March 1 at 1 p.m. in the FHS Recital Hall.
