Habeck named NSIC Freshman of the Year

In 2009 Katie Habeck led the Tigers to their first-ever trip to the Class 3A state volleyball tournament.
A year later as a senior she made several all-state teams, leading to a scholarship offer from four-time defending NCAA Division II national champion University of Concordia-St. Paul.
This week the Golden Bears' 6-0 middle blocker added another couple of lines to her already impressive list of accomplishments by earning the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (NSIC) Freshman of the Year Award and landing a spot on the all-conference team.
During the regular season Habeck ranked second in the NSIC in kill percentage (.349) and third in blocks per set (1.08). She led Concordia in blocks with 97 and finished third in kills with 212.
Concordia plays two more regular season matches before starting post-season play on November 17.
