After hovering near the 132-point mark for their first four meets the Tigers pushed the bar upward in their 143.3-136.8 loss to defending Class AA state champion Northfield Tuesday night at the Northfield Gymnastics Club.

"We really came together as a team tonight," Tiger coach Lynn Bauman said. "I was so proud of the girls!

"Our score is climbing up. We just need to iron out our bars and try to eliminate a few more falls. We actually had to count three scores that had a total of five falls which comes out to about 2.5 points."

Nadia Lorencz, a state meet qualifier last season, had her best outing of the 2011-12 campaign, winning the vault (9.35) and floor exercise (9.575) and finishing third in all-around (35.625).

Kiana Lord placed in three events, taking second in vault (9.3); third in floor exercise (9.375) and fifth on the uneven bars (8.35). Lord's all-around total of 34.275 points gave her a fifth place finish.

Kylie Wharton was the only other Tiger to earn a place with a third place effort on the beam (9.075) and a fourth place performance in floor exercise (9.2)

Saturday (Jan. 14), the Tigers host their annual invitational meet at the District Service Center. Competition begins at 11:00 a.m.
