Rochester Mayo scored twice in the first period and added an insurance goal in the second in a 3-1 non-conference win over the Tigers Thursday night, Nov. 17, at Schmitz-Maki Arena.
Farmington coach Jon Holmes wasn't making any excuses for his team's second loss in three outings as he put his team through some intense conditioning drills on Friday.
"We just didn't play very well," he said. "I thought we got out-hustled and I think we got tired late in the game. We have to come ready to play for three periods every night."
The Spartans scored six minutes into the opening period to take the lead but Farmington answered two minutes later when Haley Doll put the puck on net and Michaela Tonsnager banged home the rebound. Tonsager's goal was the first of her varsity career.
Mayo scored the game-winner late in the first stanza and then made it official with a score midway through the second.

For the night the Spartans outshot their hosts by a dominant 36-24 count.
Farmington opens Missota Conference play Tuesday, Nov. 22, with a home game against pre-season favorite Chaska/Chanhassen. Face-off is 7:15 at Schmitz-Maki Arena.
