Becca Senden scored at 5:54 of overtime as Wayzata defeated Farmington 1-0 in girl’s hockey action Tuesday night at the Plymouth Ice Center.

The Trojans (4-2-0) earned their first win in the last three games. Paige Marcy made nine stops, earning the shutout.

Jessica Erchul kept Farmington in the game, stopping 52 of 53 shots.

“We did a better job of not letting them get quality shots,” Tigers head coach Jon Holmes said. “She didn’t make any outstanding or amazing saves. She looked normal last night and remained calm and made some saves look easy.”

“We’ve expected that out of [Erchul] this year,” he said. “It’s just a matter of her feeling comfortable in the net again.”

Both teams went scoreless on the power play, with Farmington earning three chances while Wayzata had two opportunities.

The Tigers (1-4-0) have now lost four games in a row after opening the season with a win. In those four contests, Farmington has scored just four total goals and has six for the season.

“We haven’t been able to sustain a forecheck ,” Holmes said. “By the time we clear the zone it’s time for a line change.”

Holmes says his young team is still figuring out its identity and hopes to have some more answers in the next few weeks.

“It’s one of those things that by the Christmas tournament we’ll have more of an idea of where we’re at,” he said.

The Tigers will travel to New Prague on Thursday. Puck drops at 7:15 p.m. at the New Prague Community Center.
