Farmington shot just 13 percent (6 for 46) from the floor against the Spartans who stretched a six-point halftime lead to a final 30-point margin of victory.
"Simley is rated in the top five in the state in Class 3A," Tiger coach Sondra Chadwick said. "They had two 6-1 post players whose length and speed gave us problems and we rushed a lot of shots."
Neither team could find the basket in the first period with Simley managing to take a 16-10 lead to the halftime break.
All of that changed in the second half as the winners exploded for 41 points while the Tigers continued their cold shooting.
Sofia Chadwick led Farmington in scoring with eight points but no other Tiger managed more than four. Chadwick also topped the team charts in rebounds (8) and steals (5).
"I am proud of how the girls played in the first half," coach Chadwick said. "when we held their bigs to just five points. But in the second half we couldn't jump start our offense and I think we got a little fatigued...I'm not sure we'll see that kind of talented combination of post players again this season."
The Tigers hit the road again Friday when they travel to Rochester for a match-up with Section 1 rival Mayo.
