Farmington (4-19-3) closed its regular season with a flourish, blanking Big Nine Conference runner-up  Rochester John Marshall/Lourdes (17-7) 2-0 Friday night at the Rochester Recreation Center.

John Marshall got the better of the shots on goal opportunities by a 23-20 margin in the defensive-minded contest but two outstanding individual performance carried the day for the visitors.

Senior defender Rachael Peroutky scored both of the Tiger goals in the second period and eighth-grade goalie Molly Singewald made her first varsity career victory a memorable one with a 23-save performance.

Haley Doll assisted on both goals with Tyler Words earning an assist on the first score of the night.

Peroutky's two goals upped her season total to six, tying her with Grace Gavin and Michaela Tonsager for the team lead. Singewald is 1-6-2 in nine varsity starts this season.

"We played pretty well," coach Jon Holmes said. "We come hard every game...If I were coaching one of the favorites I certainly would not want to play a team like ours in the playoffs. Depending on our bounces we have the ability to be in just about any game."

Holmes said the win could do wonders for his team in Sunday's seeding for the Section 1AA post-season tournament.

"Had we lost this game we could have been facing a possible play-in game on Monday," he said, " but the win could put us as high as a four seed."
