Sofia Chadwick
No. 2 Tiger runner at Faribault Invitational
Farmington finished 15th out of 18 schools at the talent-rich Faribault Invitational run Friday, Sept. 10, at Alexander North Park.
The race for the top featured four state powers with Apple Valley edging Stillwater 98-100 for the title. Lakeville North finished third with 110 points, one fewer than fourth place White Bear Lake. The Tigers totaled 321 points.
"It's hard to compare this race with last week's because it was half a mile linger," coach Heidi Revels said, "but comparing last year's times at Montgomery this time of the season, we had some notable improvements.
"Maricellea Pacheco improved by a minute and a half and Maria Kiminski, Natalia Sitzman and Sofia Chadwick all dropped theirs by about a minute. It's a great start to the season."
The young Tigers had two new faces in the varsity lineup with Kiminski leading the way for the second straight meet with a 30th place finish and 16:19.2 clocking over the 4000-meter course.
Chadwick jumped up to the No. 2 spot, placing 48th in 16:42.4. Maricia Pacheco returned to the lineup and ranked 51st in 16:46. Alexis Johnson (94th; 18:06.3) and Marciella Pacheco (98th; 18:16.2) rounded out the Farmington scorecard.
Newcomer Sitzman (111th; 18:44.9) and Victoria Jacoby (118th; 19:43.2) filled the sixth and seventh spots in the lineup.
Next week the Tigers continue their schedule against top-notch competition when they bus to Lakeville for their annual appearance in the Apple Jack Invitational at Aronson Park.
