Meghan Lindstrom, No. 1 singles
Megan Stivers won her fourth match of the young season to account for the only Farmington point in a 6-1 loss to a hard-hitting Burnsville team Tuesday, Sept. 7, at the Boeckman Middle School courts.
"Burnsville had the most powerful collection of servers I can remember seeing in years." Tiger coach Jack Olwell said. "Each of their players could really bring the heat."
Stivers had to work hard for her victory, coming back from a 2-6 loss in the opening set to close on a 6-2, 6-3 run.
"After a slow start, I think Megan played maybe her best match of the season to date," Olwell said. "Her forehand had previously given her some trouble but now she is controlling the rallies and making it a weapon."
Olwell said Meghan Lindstrom also turned in her best performance of the year in a 2-6, 6-7(5) loss at first singles. Lindstrom led 5-4 in the second set before eventually losing in a tie-breaker.
"Meghan played relentlessly," Olwell said. "She played tough until the final point."
