Farmington split the singles matches and won two of three doubles contests to edge Trinity 4-3 Monday, Sept. 12, at the Boeckman Middle School courts.
The win was the second of the season for coach Jack Olwell's team, two more than all of last season.
"We have also narrowed the gap against most teams that beat us last year," Olwell said, "and we have had a couple matches that have slipped out of our grasp. We are moving forward."
The singles wins came at third and fourth positions where Melanie Kappes and Megan Stivers each posted straight-set victories.
"Melanie gave us a solid effort and Megan showed her usual strong play," Olwell said.
In doubles the No. 2 tandem of Jessica Autey and Rachel Molitor won 6-0, 6-4 and the No. 3 duo of ShyAnne Spurzem and Tasha Sinha triumphed 6-1, 6-1.
"The second set at No. 2 doubles looked closer than it really was and the third doubles team continues to get stronger every week," Olwell said.
The effort of the No. 1 doubles team of Katie Burgess and Ally Midboe also had a good day. After losing the first set by a one-sided 0-6, the pair came back to win 6-4 before losing the deciding set 6-7 (5).
