The Tigers didn't quite defend their Section 1AA True Team title but they gave it a good run at Saturday's 2011 meet held at the Dodge Middle School pool.
Rochester John Marshall tallied 621 points to re-claim the section hardware. Farmington ranked second at 596, followed by Owatonna 435 and Winona 393.
"It was an exciting meet from start to finish," Tiger coach Jen Marshall said. "We had some incredible swims. We worked really diligently as a team."
Kaitlyn O'Reilly had a perfect day for the Tigers, contributing to all four Tiger first place finishes. The talented sophomore won the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke and also swam a leg on the victorious 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams. Her 100 backstroke time of 1:01.18 established a new meet record.
O'Reilly joined with Abby Haugen, Zoe Avestruz and Hannah Seitzinger to win the 200 medley relay in a meet record time of 1:55.13 and with Seitzinger, Aveztruz and Kirsten Kracke to claim the 200 freestyle relay.
Avestruz added second place finishes in the 50 and 100 freestyle races to her productive day. Her 24.84 clocking in the 50 freestyle set a new school record.
Cora Ruzicka also had a good day for the Tigers, placing third in both the 100 butterfly and 500 freestyle events.
Three Tigers scored fourth place points: Kracke, 200 freestyle; Robin Ellis, 100 backstroke and Haugen, 100 breaststroke.
Kendall Novak ranked fifth on the one-meter board while Kracke and Ellie Sundet placed fifth in the 100 backstroke and 500 freestyle respectively.
Tuesday night, October 25, the Tigers get another shot at Rochester John Marshall, this time in a dual meet in Rochester.
