Three Tigers make all-state cheer team

All-State cheerleaders (l to r) Morgan Elliott, Ashley Fogarty and Mollie Meyers
For the past three years Farmington High School has been involved in the Minnesota Cheer Coaches Association All-State competition.

In 2009 Dylan Victors made it to the final round and last fall Meagan Peterson  equaled that accomplishment.

This year six Tigers from the fall football cheer squad--sophomore Brianna Leonard; juniors Cassidy Jelen and Mollie Meyers and seniors Morgan Elliott Ashley Fogarty and Sadi LaPlante were among 90 cheer squad members from around the state competing for the elite team.

The cheerleaders were judged on their performance of the Minnesota Cheer Coaches Association (MCCA) cheer and a choreographed dance performed to music. The candidates had to learn the cheer from a video on the MCCA website.

Tiger Cheer coach Nancy Stein proudly reports that three of the six, seniors, Fogarty, Meyers and Elliott, landed berths on the all-state squad.

"It a first for Tiger Cheer," Stein said. "I could not be prouder of these young ladies and all of the varsity and junior varsity cheerleaders."

The three Tigers and the rest of the all-state team will perform at the MCCA State Cheerleading Competition in February where they will also receive their all-state medals.
