Farmington sent its senior class out in style with a 3-0 sweep of Holy Angels Tuesday night at Tiger Gym. The Senior Night contest marked the end of the regular season home schedule.

The Tigers routed the Stars 25-8 in game one and finished off the Missota Conference victory with 27-25 and 25-15 wins.

The triumph moved coach Mike Woody's team back to the .500 mark for the season at 13 wins and 13 losses. The Tigers are 2-4 in conference play with one match remaining.

"It was nice to have most everyone back in practice to work on some things," Tiger coach Mike Woody said. "One of the things we did well was pass the ball and that led to a balanced offense."

The senior class played a big part in the win, leading in four of six statistical departments. Setter Mia Johnston was top in assists with 18 and Kaylene Seurer led the way at the net with eight blocks. Rachel Eckert had a team-high 14 serve receptions and Emily Nelson tied eighth-grader Makenzie Hesse for the team lead digs with six.

Another eighth-grader, Emma Fahning, topped the kill charts with an even dozen and junior Ruthie Schmitt chipped in with a trio of service aces.

The eight seniors on this year's squad include Seurer, Nelson, Eckert, Mia Johnston, Kayla Collins, Kelsey Lindell, Elissa Baago and Courtney Johnston.

"What great senior class," Woody said. "This group has played together as a whole longer than any I have had.

"I don't feel like I just have one senior daughter on the team; I feel like I have eight."

Farmington closes out its 2012 regular and conference season next Tuesday at Shakopee and then awaits the Section 1AAA seeding process to see who and where it plays in next week's opening round.
