State-ranked St. Paul Central won the team title with 57 points. Northfield was runner-up at 63, followed by Forest lake 94, Shakopee 95, Farmington 115, Robbinsdale Cooper 128, St. Francis 133, Providence Academy 78, Richfield 260, Chanhassen 295 and Breck 315
"I very much think that Shakopee and Northfield are within reach for us at the conference meet," Farmington coach Lisa Lippold said. "Twelve of our top boys ran three races in seven days, so given we were so close to Northfield and Shakopee, it is a good sign.
"It will be nice to go in to the conference meet as the underdog and let everyone see what kind of talent we really do have."
As he has all season. Hyytinen paced the Farmington effort at Shakopee, finishing third behind Central's Ahmed Bule and Forest Lake's Jacob Jankowski. Hyytinen closed 16:47.4 over the 5000-meter course.
Alex Hart and Adam Wallenta both cracked the top 25 with Hart ranking 15th in 17:44.3 and Wallenta 21st in 17:53.3.
Tyler Lerbakken (30th, 18:11.3); Caleb Eiffert (46th, 18:32.9); Clayton Webb (48th; 18:43.5) and Hunter Sevenich (53rd, 19:24) completed the Farmington roster.
Next up for the Tigers is a trip to the New Prague Golf Course next Tuesday for the 2012 Missota Conference Championships.
