Section 1AA Girls Soccer Coach of the Year Rob Carpentier |
Carpentier led the Tigers to the best regular season in the program's history this fall: 10 wins four losses and two ties.
The fourth-year Tiger coach has a rich background in soccer having coached at the club level in St. Paul before assuming the boys' head coaching position at St. Bernard's High School in the Capitol City. He coached the Bulldogs for six seasons before assuming the FHS girls position in 2009.
In his four years in Farmington, his teams have produced the program's first winning season, its first nine-win season and this year the school's first Missota Conference championship. The Tigers finished in a tie with Shakopee and Holy Angels for the league title with a 5-1 mark.
Carpentier's career coaching record is 97 wins 67 losses and 16 ties. At Farmington his teams are 36-25-16.
"The idea when I came here was to build for that year and beyond," Carpentier said. "All of the training regarding formation, skills and team-building led us to this year's conference championship.
"The girls here have been fantastic. Their chemistry in games and at practice have been outstanding. They learned from some very good players before them and have taken on the identity of this team as their own."
The Tigers open Section 1AA play Thursday night against Rochester Mayo at Tiger Stadium.
