Saturday the Tigers finished as runner-ups at the eight-team Winter Warm-Up Invitational held at the YMCA in Austin.
Host Austin won the team championship with 142.05 points. Farmington finished at 126.50, followed by Stewartville 122.9, Rochester Century 120.1, Rochester Mayo 109.55, Richfield 109, Rochester John Marshall 82.15 and Austin JV, score unavailable.
Kiana Lord had a big day for the Tigers, placing second on the uneven bars (8.5), fourth in floor exercise (8.95) and third in the all-around competition (33.05).
Maddie Timerson scored a personal best in vault where she ranked third with a 9.0 mark.
"We were very excited about Maddie getting her first 9.0," coach Lynn Bauman said.
As for her team's overall performance in the season opener, Bauman said she was satisfied.
"I was very proud of our girls," she said. "They performed everything we've been practicing. They may have fallen a few times, but they did it. It is always hard to get out there for the first time.
"We have a lot of work to do, but come mid-season, we will be a whole new team. Kylie Wharton and Amanda Davenport should be in full swing in January which will also help us."
Tuesday night, Dec. 11, the Tigers kick-off their Missota Conference season with a dual meet with Red Wing at the Red Wing Gymnastics Center.
