Gymnastics: Tigers swoop by Wingers

Tahra Eckert and Kiana Lord combined for four first place finishes as the Tigers opened their home season with a 133.825-112.7 win over Red Wing Tuesday night at the District Service Center.

Eckert continued to improve her season numbers by winning the vault (8.95), balance beam (8.3) and all-around (34.175).  Eckert also took second on bars (8.25) and fourth in floor exercise (8.675).

Lord, meanwhile, led the field on the uneven bars (8.7) and floor exercise (9.225).

Rachel Kininski placed in three different events: third in vault (8.725) and beam (8.25) and fifth in floor exercise (8.3)..

Kathryn Beckett also earned points in three events, taking second on floor (9.125); fifth on beam (7.3) and tying sister Racquel Beckett for fourth in vault (8.6).

Amanda Davenport ranked third in both bars (7.975) and floor (8.9) and Mackenzie McFadden finished fifth on bars (7.75).

"The girls and I were happy to be home for a meet," coach Lynn Bauman said. "They were much more comfortable.

"Tahra (Eckert) had another great meet for herself and we are getting clsore to having a full team."

Farmington also won the junior varsity meet 117.9-105.49. Kendall Novak (vault), Kiminski (bars), Racquel Beckett (beam) and Taylor Schmaltz (floor) all won individual events and Schmaltz clained the all-around title.

This Saturday the Tigers host their annual invitational meet at the District Service Center. The theme this year is "Fire and Ice."
