Boys Swimming and Diving: Hastings tames Tigers 99-89

Allen Berg
2nd in 200 medley; 3rd in 100 breaststroke

Hastings won eight of the first nine events on the way to an 89-79 win over the Tigers Tuesday, Jan. 4, in Hastings.
Farmington coach Ryan Hamen juggled his lineup for the non-conference dual meet as Farmington geared up for its conference season.
"We swam a lot of our guys in off events," Hamen said, "and they showed some great improvements and the ability to perform in different races....We still need to fine tune some things but it was a fun meet to have."
Tyler Magalis and Brian Huls provided the two Farmington first place finishes. Magalis captured the 50 freestyle while Huls led the field in the 100 breaststroke.
Magalis and Huls also each brought home second place finishes, Magalis in the 100 freestyle and Huls in the 100 butterfly.
Allen Berg finished second in the 200 individual medley and Zach Holton was runner-up in the 200 freestyle.
Five other Farmington entrants managed third place finishes: Derek Anderson in the 50 freestyle; Matthew Stephan in the 100 butterfly; Loren Hatten in the 100 freestyle; Nick Stephan in the 500 freestyle and Berg in the 100 breaststroke.
The Tigers dive back into action Thursday night, Jan. 6, with a Missota Conference dual meet at Red Wing
