Girls Basketball: Tigers set consecutive wins mark with 68-25 victroy over Faribault

Paige Steele
6 points, 4 steals vs. Faribault

The Tigers set a school record for consecutive wins with a lopsided 68-25 non-conference win over Faribault Tuesday night, Jan. 4, at Tiger Gym.
The triumph was the ninth straight for coach Jason Berg's unbeaten team. Two other Farmington teams (1986 and 2007) had won eight games in row.
Berg summed up the one-sided win over Faribault succinctly.
"We started the game on a 22-4 run and that was about it," he said.
The inside-outside combination of Taylor Meyer (12 points) and Isis Alexander (8) produced 20 first-half points as the Tigers hit intermission with a commanding 34-10 lead.
Berg substituted liberally in the second half but the visiting Falcons could never find an answer to the sticky Farmington defense.
In the Tigers nine victories they have allowed the opposition to score an average of just 37.4 points a game.
"Our defense is what gets us going," Berg said. "It makes our offense better."
Three Tigers finished in double figures. Meyer netted 17, Alexander 14 and Jordan Bridges 10. Mariah Mincke added eight and Paige Steele and Jamie Kenealy had six apiece.
Meyer pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds for a double-double and Bridges added six.
Kenealy put together a good floor game with five assists; Steele came up with four steals.
The Tigers face a stern test Thursday night (Jan. 6) when they open their Missota Conference season with a home game against Red Wing. The Wingers are also off to a flying start, winning 10 of their first 11 games.
