Wrestling: Tigers winless at Classic Duals

Kyle Benjamim
3-0 at Tiger Duals

The Tigers followed up a quality performance at Faribault last Thursday night with an 0-3 run at the annual Tiger Classic Duals held Saturday, Jan.8, at Farmington High School.
Farmington lost three consecutive matches at the day-long tournament: 48-16 to Chatfield; 45-27 to Lakeville North and 60-11 to Park of Cottage Grove.
"We didn't wrestle well at all," Tiger coach Chad Olson said. "We weren't able to duplicate the intensity level we had at Faribault."
Although the team performance didn't live up to expectations, some individual results were encouraging.
Kyle Benjamin finished the day 3-0 in the 103 lbs. weight division, including a 2-0 decision over Lakeville North's Collin Degrammont who had defeated him five consecutive times.
Joe Hoeve also won three straight at 152 lbs. and Carl Elmer went 2-0 at 145 lbs. to run his career win total to 97. Elmer sat out the Park match for match count reasons.
John Walz (112 lbs.), Jake Rudeen (130 lbs.), and Dakota Louis-Dupay (215 lbs.) each won one match for the Tigers.
Farmignton returns to action Thursday, Jan. 13, with a home triangular with Northfield and Rosemount.
