Farmington shook off a little holiday rust to finish eighth at the 11-team Eagle Invitational held Thursday, Dec. 30, at Apple Valley High School.
Stillwater won the team title with 2306 points. Lakeville South finished second at 2266.5, followed by Lakeville North 2002.5, Eau Claie (WI) 1921, Cretin-Derham Hall 1806.5, Apple Valley 1795.5, Anoka 1671, Farmington 1541, Northfield 1247, Rochester Mayo 1133 and Minneapolis Southwest-Washburn 1065.
"We started out tough after a hard week of practice," coach Ryan Hamen said, "but we picked it up in the second half (of the meet)."
Five Tigers--Brian Huls, Tyler Magalis, Loren Hatten, Zach Holton and Allen Berg--accounted for all eight of Farmington's top ten finishes.
Huls led the way with four, including two individual events (4th in the 100 backstroke and 7th in the 100 freestyle) and two relays (4th in the 200 medley and 8th in the 200 freestyle).
Magalis posted the highest Farmington individual finish with a runner-up effort on the one-meter board and also swam a leg on the two top ten relay teams.
Hatten placed 10th in the 100 breaststroke and was part of the two relay teams. Holton took 10th in the butterfly and also swam on the 200 meter relay quartet.
Berg recorded a ninth place finish in the 500 freestyle and swam on the 200 freestyle relay team.
The Tigers get back to dual competition this week with a pair of road meets on the schedule, Tuesday at Hastings and Thursday at Red Wing.
