Boys Swimming and Diving: Magalis scores four 1sts in 92-86 win over Chanhassen

Tyler Magalis had a hand in four first place finishes to led the Tigers to a 92-86 Missota Conference dual meet win over Chanhassen Thursday night, Feb. 3, in Chanhassen.
The meet was not as close as the final score with the Tigers swimming the last two events in exhibition status (no points scored).
Magalis, a jack-of-all-trades all season, won the one-meter dive, tied teammate Christopher Kirchmann for honors in the 50 freestyle and swam a leg on the victorious 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams.
Brian Huls posted a pair of wins, leading the pack in the 100 freestyle and joining Magalis, Kirchmann and Zach Holton on the first place 200 freestyle relay squad.
Holton led the field in the 100 freestyle while Allen Berg won the 500 freestyle race.
Aaron Lane, Matthew Stephan and Holton joined with Magalis to win the meet's opening event, the 200 freestyle relay.
Farmington finished runner-up in five other events: Evan Carufel, diving; Berg, 200 freestyle; Holton, 200 individual medley; Lane, 100 backstroke and Huls, 100 butterfly.
Lane ranked third in the 200 medley and Kirchmann finished third in the 500 freestyle. Aaron Cochnauer scored third place points in the 100 butterfly as did Kirchmann in the 500 freestyle.
The dual meet win closed the books on the regular season for the Tigers who now begin preparation for the Missota Conference Championships which they will host Saturday, Feb. 12, at the Dodge Middle School pool.
