Girls Basketball: Tigers tie season win record with 51-34 victory at Hastings

Jordan Bridges, 24 points, 8 rebounds

The Tigers won their 17th game of the 2001-11 season Thursday night, Feb. 10, with a 51-34 non-conference victory at Hastings. The 17 wins match the old record set in 1986-87 when Farmington finished 17-6.
The latest triumph took some time to develop as the visitors had a little trouble adjusting to the Hastings zone defense. Farmington eventually ground out a 25-18 halftime lead.
"We had a slow start," Tiger coach Jason Berg said. "We didn't do a great job of attacking their zone early. Once we found the soft spots in it, we attacked it better."
Jordan Bridges who went on to score a game-high 24 points, made five of eight shots in the opening half to provide most of the offensive spark, finishing with 13 points.
Bridges canned five of six shots and the Farmington defense ramped up the pressure on the Raiders (11 turnovers) in the second half to help the Tigers pull away.
Berg said the game may have been one of the best of the season as far as his team's passing was concerned. Farmington registered 19 assists on its 21 field goals.
Eight different players joined Bridges in the scoring column with front court mates Taylor Meyer and Elena Koch finishing with seven and six respectively.
Bridges team-high eight rebounds helped the Tigers to a solid 31-20 advantage on the glass. Jamie Kenelay chipped in with six boards and Meyer dished out a team-high five assists.
The win served as a tune-up for tonight's (Friday, Feb. 11) showdown with Missota Conference co-leader Shakopee at Tiger Gym. Farmington (17-3) sits at 6-3 in legaue play, one game behind Shakopee, New Prague and Chanhassen.
