Farmington tuned up for next week's Missota Conference opener with a 56-42 road win over North St. Paul Saturday evening.

The victory gives the Tigers a 6-5 record heading into Tuesday's league lid-lifter at Northfield.

"Saturday's game was one of those where we had to bring our own enthusiasm," Tiger coach Shane Wyandt said. "There wasn't much of a crowd and not a lot of life in the gym. Overall, I thought we did some good things."

Alex Chadwick hit a couple of early three-pointers to give the visitors a jump start and by intermission the Tigers were sitting on a comfortable 29-17 lead.

"Alex played very well," Wyandt said. Not just with his shooting but with his defense and floor leadership."

The second period was more competitive as Wyandt went to his bench early and often. Several reserves got an extra helping of valuable court time after intermission.

"I think over the last three games our defense has played very well,"' Wyandt said. "We're still a bit inconsistent at the offensive end but we were very good in stretches."

Mac Bassett led the Farmington scorers with 17 points while Chadwick finished with an even dozen.

Tuesday night the Tigers head to Northfield for renewal of a neighborhood rivalry that has produced nothing but nail-biters over the past several years.

"It doesn't seem to matter who has what kind of record," Wyandt said. "Whenever we get together with them it usually goes right down to the end. They (Nortfhield) have been playing very well so it should be a good one."

The Tigers continue league play Friday with another road contest at Red Wing.
