Farmington finished dead in the middle a 17-team field at last Saturday's Faribault Invitational but took home the top prize in a special "36 seconds of Talent" competition.

Coach Lynn Bauman said the special exhibition was designed to "...wow the crowd with any type of skit or talent..."

The Tigers put together a circus act consisting of a ringmaster, a tiger, an elephant, an elephant rider and two monkeys in their winning performance.

In the actual competition, Farmington hovered around its recent season-high team total with 133.05 points. Defending state champion Northfield won the meet with a score of 147.425. Owatonna was a distant second at 143.650.

Kiana Lord was the only Farmington gymnast to rank among the top 10 in any event in the talent-filled meet. She scored 8.9 on the uneven bars to rank 10th. The mark was her highest of the season in the event.

As a team, the Tigers ranked seventh on bars, eighth in floor exercise, ninth in vault and 10th on the balance beam.

"As you can see, the beam is still our weakness," Bauman said. "Our bars score was our team high so far this season.

"I still have high hopes for our team this year. We have lots of potential. I believe our score will continue to rise as we grow stronger."

The Tigers vault back into action Tuesday with their first home meet of the 2012-13 season, a Missota Conference dual with Red Wing.  Saturday they host their annual invitational meet at the District Service Center.

"The girls and I are looking forward to being at home for a couple of meets this week," Bauman said.
