Tanner Grubb capped a solid night of hockey with the game-winning goal at 3:55 of overtime to give Farmington a hard-earned 3-2 win over Simley Saturday at Vetetrans' Arena in Inver Grove Heights.

The victory was the first in five games for Tigers who raised their season record to 5-6-1.

"It certainly didn't come easy," coach Keith Revels said. "We had the better of the play throughout but weren't able to put away our opportunities. The boys played hard, won races to the puck and played solid defense."

The teams skated through a scoreless first period although the Tigers had the better of the chances, coming up empty on three power play opportunities.

Grady Hauswirth (from Corey Rudrud) broke the scoring ice midway through the second period with his first varsity goal but Simley tied it in the closing minutes of the period to set up an exciting finish.

Simley scored the go-ahead goal in third frame before Dallas Tucker (from Justin Novak and Jack Erickson) forced overtime with a goal with 10 minutes to play in regulation and set the stage for Grubb's overtime heroics.

"Tanner had a night," Revels said. "He was up and down the ice the entire game."

Gage Overby drew his second straight start in goal for the Tigers and earned his second win of the season, finishing with 18 saves.

Tuesday night the Tigers resume their Missota Conference schedule with a road game at Northfield.
