Boys Track: Tigers run away with quadrangular

Farmington used a large number of junior varsity athletes but still ran away with an impromptu four-team meet held Thursday afternoon at Shakopee.

Farmington totaled 105.5 points, 42 more than runner-up Shakopee who finished with 63.5. Chanhassen scored 20 and Chaska had three.

"It was a cool day, but we had some positive results," coach Brian Helmstetter said. "Enough that we'll have some changes for next week's True Team meet.'

The Tigers won 12 of the meet's 17 events, paced by Nehemiah Rockett who won the 200-meter dash and triple jump, and Jeffery Gutierrez who swept the 1600 and 3200 meter distance races.

Other first place winners included Ryan Parco, 100-meter dash; Alex Lubbers, 400-meter run; Adam Dougherty, 800-meter run; Adam Closmore, pole vault; Alexander Burton, discus; Michael Husnick, shot put; the 4x400 relay team of Jacob Earp, Matt Olund, Parco and Lubbers and the 4x800 quartet of Clayton Webb, Caleb Gochenour, Ryan Newton and Dougherty..

Runner-up finished went to Luis Rodriguez, 1600 and 3200 meter runs; Alex Hart, 800-meter run; Mason Gaylord, 200-meter dash; Mathew Anderson, high jump; Mac Bassett, long jump; Jacob LeClair, discus and Josh Patterson, shot put.

Third place point scorers included Collin Berquist, 200-meter dash; Husnick, discus and LeClair, shot put.

Next Tuesday the Tigers head to Lakeville North in hopes of winning their first True Team section title since 2009.
