Northfield scored a power play goal with 9:13 to play in the third period and Farmington settled for a tie, 2-2, Thursday night in Northfield.
The Tigers (4-5-2, 1-1-1) rebounded from a nine-goal defeat Tuesday night by outshooting the Raiders (8-5-1, 1-2-1) 35-22.
“We bounced back and played a very solid game,” head coach Keith Revels said. “We created many opportunities in the offensive zone [but were] unable to capitalize.”
Revels said that his team’s play in the defensive zone was solid one game after surrendering 62 shots on goal Tuesday against Holy Angels.
The Tigers were without leading scorer Andrew Peterson who missed the game due to an illness, according to Revels.
Jake Eldred opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal in the first. Northfield answered 32 seconds later on Colton Woodruff’s goal. Grant Hauswirth, with help from Jason Thomas and Kevin Olund, put the Tigers ahead once again in the second period.
Farmington would carry that lead into the third before Andrew Scofield’s power play goal tied the score. The Tigers held a 7-1 shot advantage in overtime but were unable to net the winner.
“We competed and worked hard which is what we are asking them to do,” Revels said. “A tie on the road is something we can build on for next week.”
The Tigers will return to action Tuesday when they host Chaska at 7:15 p.m.
