The Tigers showed more depth but Red Wing won eight of 12 events to post a 94-90 win in a Missota Conference dual meet Thursday night at the Dodge Middle School pool.

"For a dual meet it was good," Tiger coach Ryan Hamen said. "A lot of our guys dropped some good times and are showing a lot of improvement in their stroke work.

"Red Wing has some very strong swimmers but lack depth in some areas. We are optimistic for our conference meet in hopes our depth will be our strength."

Evan Carufel proved his versatility by winning the one-meter diving competition and finishing third in the 50 freestyle.

Christopher Kirchmann won the 200 freestyle and ranked second in the 100 freestyle. Aaron Lane led the field in the 100 backstroke, and he, Kirchmann, Zach Holton and Conner Kealy closed the meet with a victory in the 400 freestyle relay.

Holton also recorded a pair of second place finishes in the 200 individual medley and the 100 butterfly. Spencer Kabran was runner-up in the 100 breaststroke.

Cameron Molnar scored third place points in two events, the 200 medley and 100 backstroke.

Three other Tigers finished third: Jonathan Bovee (diving); Ben Cohoon (100 breaststroke) and Aaron Cochnauer (500 freestyle).

Saturday the Tigers travel to the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center for the Maroon and Gold Invitational.
