Betsy Anderson scored 1:17 into overtime as Farmington defeated Holy Angels, 1-0, Tuesday night in Richfield.

The Tigers (5-10, 2-3) allowed just five shots over the final two periods and overtime and outshot the Stars (1-15-1, 0-5) 41-13 for the game.

“They had an early five-on-three and a couple other power plays where they got virtually every shot from,” head coach Jon Holmes said. “Other than that we dominated the play in their end five-on-five.”

With the win, Farmington ends a three-game losing streak. Jessica Erchul stopped all 13 shots and earned her third shutout this season.

Anderson’s winner in overtime was assisted by Rachael Welzin. It was Anderson’s fourth goal of the season.

“Hard to believe with the control of play and shots that it took us [extra time] to finish the game,” Holmes said. But it’s a win nonetheless.”

The Tigers will return to non-conference action Thursday as they host Hopkins at Schmitz-Maki Arena. Puck drops at 7:15 p.m.
