After a lackluster performance at Hastings on Tuesday, the Tigers responded with what coach Rob Carpentier termed his team's "most complete game of the year" in a 3-1 loss to Northfield Thursday Sept. 8, at Tiger Stadium.
"We played much, much better," Carpentier said. "We outplayed them (Northfield) in every category but the scoreboard. If we keep up that effort we could win the rest of our conference games and do things in the section."
The Raiders, the pre-season choice for Missota Conference honors, led 2-0 at intermission even though the Tigers had the better of the scoring opportunities.
"We forced Northfield into many errors but we didn't punish them enough," Carpentier said. "We only made four errors the whole game but they led to all three of their goals."
After the Raiders extended their lead to 3-0 in the second half, Kenya Macias netted her third goal of the season on an assist from Alyssa Parco for the lone Farmington score.
"We missed a couple of shots that we should have made," Carpentier said, "but overall I was very proud of the girls, especially after Tuesday's game.
Farmington (3-4) jumps back into action Monday, Sept. 12, with a non-conference contest at Park of Cottage Grove.
