Tiger coach Chad Olson said the three-team non-conference get-together didn't necessarily bring out the best in his young squad.
"We did not wrestle one of our best matches," he said. "It seems like the bus ride took something out of us."
The romp over Zimmerman was helped along by 42 points gained by forfeits. Mason Hawkins (120); Brayden Chapman (138); Zach Seufer (152); Kyle Heusbourg (160); Sam Kealy (195); Godfrey Mpetey (220) and Jamie Scavone (285) all scored six points without breaking a sweat.
On the mat, Jamin LeDuc ran his season record to 26-1 with a pin in the 106-pound bout and Joe Hoeve improved to 21-12 with a fall in the 170-pound match.
Tyler Venz upped his stellar season mark to 33-2 with a major decision at 113 lbs. and Matt Rustad earned four points for a major decision in the 126-pound match-up for his 22nd win of the season.
The Tigers started quickly against Anoka with wins in the first four matches to build a 13-0 lead. LeDuc, Venz and Hawkins each won by decision and Rustad recorded his second major decision of the night.
But from there the Tornadoes reeled off nine straight wins to to put the match away. Scavone finished the night off on a positive note with a fall in the 285-pound bout.
The triangular served as a tune-up for the Section 2AAA team tournament scheduled for next week. The pairings won't be announced until Sunday but Olson said the match-ups are all but set.
"We'll be the No. 6 seed and likely end up wrestling Lakeville North," he said. "We had a great dual with North earlier this season when they beat us 31-29. Hopefully, we can flip the score this time."
