Alumni Alley: Ex-Tigers take it to the next level

Former Tiger two-sport standout Cody Eich kicked off his junior season at the University of Minnesota-Duluth with five tackles and an assist in a 35-10 win over nationally ranked Central Washington two weeks ago. Eich is the starting strong safety for the Bulldogs who are currently ranked No. 3 in the American Football Coaches Association national poll...

Two ex-Tigers helped Bethel to a 30-12 win over Simpson last Saturday. Sophomore running back Derek Waldbillig, who transferred from the University of St. Thomas last winter, picked up nine yards in three carries and freshman lineman Bubba Friedlund saw action on the offensive line...

Two more FHS alumni played for St. Olaf in its 28-21 victory over Luther. Senior Corey Tutewohl started at defensive end for the Oles and had a couple of tackles, including a nine-yard quarterback sack, and younger brother Danny Tutewohl played on the offensive line in a reserve role...

Two members of the 2006 Missota Conference champion Tiger team, Wade Fischer (center) and Jimmy Deegan (tight end) started on the offensive line for William Penn University (Iowa) in its season-opening 30-3 win over Gracleand.

Tiger grad Patti Serdar played for the Minnesota State, Mankato women's golf team that won a triangular meet at the New Ulm Country Club last weekend...Katrina Waltz of the FHS class of 2010 saw her first collegiate soccer action last week for Minnesota State, Mankato in the Mavericks 1-0 triumph over Ferris State...

Former Tiger volleyball standout Kate Otten is serving as student manager for the Central Methodist University (Missouri) team. Otten played for the Eagles the past two seasons...

1988 FHS Athlete of the Year Matt Walter guided his Annandale High School team to a 32-20 win over Watertown-Mayer last Friday night...
