Girls Swimming: Tigers roll at Kennedy quadrangular

Farmington swimming and diving coach Jen Marshall has repeatedly said her team's depth was going to translate into a lot of success this season and after dominating a four-team meet at Bloomington Kennedy, Saturday, Sept, 18, her prediction appears to be right on.

"The girls are swimming and diving really well right now," Marshall said. "They are starting to believe in themselves and each other and this belief will help them achieve great things this season."

Farmington rolled up 850.5 points to run away with the meet. Bloomington Jefferson finished a distant second at 456, followed by host Kennedy 427 and Eau Claire (Wis) 356.

Depth meant points in the quadrangular where the top 16 performers in each individual event and all relay teams earned markers.

The Tigers set the tone for the day in the first event when Kirsten Kracke, Elizabeth Wolfe, Kaitlyn O'Reilly and Ellie Sundet combined to win the 200 medley relay and three other Tiger quartets finished third, sixth, and seventh respectively for 122 points.

All in all, Farmington won six of the 12 events with O'Reilly claiming two, the 200 individual medley and the 100 backstroke. Cora Rizicka prevailed in the 100 butterfly as did Sara Kintner in the 500 freestyle and Wolfe in the 100 breaststroke.

The foursome of Sarah O'Reilly, Kaitlyn O'Reilly, Sundet and Kracke provided an exclamation point to the productive day with a win in the 400 freestyle relay.

Sarah O'Reilly and Kracke finished second in the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke respectively and O'Reilly (500 freestyle), Sundet 100 freestyle, Robin Ellis (100 backstroke) and Abby Haugen (100 breaststroke) each scored third place points.

Three Farmington relay teams finished third: Delaney Wright, Haugen, Ruzicka and Ellis in the 200 medley; Ellis, Haugen, Kintner and Sarah O'Reilly in the 200 freestyle and Chloe Holton, Wright, Ruzicka and Kintner in the 400 freestyle.
