Girls Swimming: Tigers down Red Wing for second straight

Last fall Farmington defeated Red Wing in girls swimming and diving for the first time in school history. The second dual meet win over the Wingers didn't take nearly as long.

Coach Jen Marshall's squad won nine of the first 11 events and coasted to a 95-77 dual meet win over the Wingers, Tuesday, Aug. 31, at the Dodge Middle School pool. The victory was the second in as many tries for Farmington this season.

Ellie Sundet, Kirsten Kracke and Kaitlyn O'Reilly each had huge nights for the winners, scoring first place points in three events.

Sundet won the 100 and 200 freestyle races and also led off the victorious 200 freestyle relay.
Kracke captured the 100 butterfly and logged a leg on both the winning 200 freestyle and 200 medley relay teams.

O'Reilly also swam on the two winning relays and set a school record in the 500 freestyle with a finishing time of 5:24.04, more than two seconds faster than the old mark set by Lindsey Ternes in 2006.
Other first place finishers included Jade Alm on the one-meter board and Elizabeth Wolfe and Abby Haugen in the 200 freestyle and 200 medley relays.

Sara Kinter provided second place points in the 200 and 500 freestyle events.
Other runner-up finishes went to Sarah O'Reilly (100 freestyle); Kaitlyn O'Reilly (50freestyle) and Kracke (100 butterfly).
