Girls Tennis: Tigers still looking for first win

The Tigers continued to show improvement on the court but their win column remained empty after back-to-back home court losses to Minnehaha Academy and Holy Angels, Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 20 and 21, respectively.

Farmington fell to the Red Hawks 5-2 and the Stars 7-0. The losses dropped the Tigers dual meet record to 0-8.

"I thought we played a great match against Minnehaha," coach Jack Olwell said. "We showed great improvement in singles and we won two out of three doubles matches."

Against Minnehaha, the No. 2 doubles team of Emilee Shearer and Brianne Hasak (pictured above) won 7-5, 6-4 while the No. 3 tandem of Rachel Molitor and Jessica Autey rolled to a 6-0, 6-2 victory.

"Emily and Brianne were outstanding," Olwell said, "and Jessica and Rachel played smart and aggressively in a surprisingly easy win."

Olwell said the shutout loss to Holy Angels was closer than the final score with his team having several opportunities to break into the win column.

The third doubles duo of Autey and Lucy Gentilini, paired together for the first time, played especially well in a 6-7(2), 2-6 loss.
