Volleyball: Tigers lose third straight; face Holy Angels Sept. 30

After playing well against top flight competition in their own tournament two weeks ago the Tigers have hit some bumpy road, losing three straight matches by identical 3-0 scores. The latest came against Rochester Mayo Tuesday night, Sept. 28, at Tiger Gym.

The first two games were typical of recent meetings between the Section 1AAA rivals with Mayo (13-3) scoring hard-fought 25-22 wins. The Spartans completed the shutout with a convincing 25-12 win in game three.

"We were again on the doorstep, but afraid to ring the doorbell," coach Mike Woody said. "We are getting better at competing in each game, but we are still trying to learn how to win."

Senior hitter Katie Habeck had another big statistical night for Farmington in the losing effort. The Concordia-St. Paul recruit finished the night with 18 serve receptions, 18 digs, 14 kills and a pair of blocks.

Brook King had a team-high 24 serve receptions while Mia Johnston and Haylee Lundquist led in set assists with 11 and eight respectively.

Farmington (5-9) returns to Missota Conference action Thursday night against Holy Angels in Jam the Gym Night at Tiger Gym. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
