Boys Golf: May leads Tigers at Dakota County Invitational

Tommy May shot 37-38 for a round of 75

Tiger junior Tommy May finished among the leaders with a round of 75 as the Tigers finished seventh in the eight-team Dakota County Invitational played Saturday, May 7, at Emerald Greens Golf Club.
Lakeville North won the meet with 293 strokes followed by Eagan 300, Eastview 303, Rosemount 310, Hastings 311, Apple Valley 319, Farmington 323 and Simley 339. Bobby Thomas of Lakeville North 71 topped the leader board with a 71.
"Overall, most of our guys played one nine well and one nine not so well," assistant coach Terry Holmes said. "The good sign was it was the second nine that they played better...All of our players need to keep working on their short game."
May played consistently, finishing at 37 on the front and 38 on the back for his 75.
From there the scores dropped off with Jake Hanson making his debut in the varsity lineup with an 82. Cooper Loew and Trevor Hockert checked in with 83's, followed by Mike Dalhed 87 and Matt Provost 89.
The Tigers won't have any chance to work on their game until Wednesday, May 11. Monday they make an appearance at the Shakopee Invitational at Stonebrooke and Tuesday they travel to Mississippi National in Red Wing to play in the third Missota Conference tournament of the season.
