Girls Golf: Tigers shave 39 strokes off team score

Mia Johnston
Farmington co-leader at Missots opener

Farmington finished seventh at the first Missota Conference meet of the 2011 season but that was not the number coach Rob Carpentier saw when he looked at the final results sheet.
"Our score was 39 shots lower than our score from the first conference meet last year," Carpentier said. "The younger girls are shooting lower and lower scores and are starting to believe that they can be pretty good."
Host New Prague took advantage of playing on its home course to win the tournament played at the New Prague Golf Club with 333 strokes. Red Wing tallied 341, Northfield 362, Chanhassen 371, Chaska 374,, Shakopee 392, Farmington 441 and Holy Angels 449. McKenzie Niesen of New Prague won individual honors with a round of 73.
Terra Klima and Mia Johnston tied for Tiger team honors with identical scores of 109. Brianna Swenson was one shot back at 110, followed by Alexis House 113, Annie Grengs 115 and Alexis Preese 127.
The next conference girls' tournament is Monday, May 9, at Dahlgreen Golf Club in Chaska.
