Farmington took the opening game 25-21 but then could not quite get over the hump, losing the final three by scores of 25-27, 19-25 and 19-25.
The loss was just the second in the past 12 matches for Farmington who saw its season record dip to 11-5.
"We started off well and then we struggled with serve receive," Tiger coach Mike Woody said, "and that led to us struggling offensively...Hopefully, we can bounce back Thursday."
The game stats seemed to bear out Woody's contention that his team's trouble with serve receptions played a major role in the outcome. The Tigers finished the five-game set with 17 serve reception errors and 15 digging miscues.
With Emma Fahning out because of a shoulder injury, fellow freshman Kenzie Hesse carried much of the offensive load, totaling 20 kills for the night. Morgan Cecchittini added 11. Setter Ruthie Schmitt contributed 37 assists.
Diana Comes led in digs with 22, one more than Summer Skokan. Hannah Baer chipped in with 14. Comes also topped the stat sheet in serve receptions with 40. Skokan had 25 and Hesse 14.
Cecchittini was a force around the net with 10 blocks. Vanessa Garske added six.
Thursday the Tigers return to action with a Missota Conference homecoming special against New Prague at Tiger Gym.
