Alumni Tracker: Lamberty all-MIAC golfer

Rachel Lamberty

2008 FHS graduate Rachel Lamberty had an outstanding fall season for the St. Mary's University (Winona) women's golf team. Lamberty, a junior transfer for the Cardinals, shot 256 for 54 holes to tie for ninth place at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Championships played earlier this month at Bunker Hills Golf Club in Coon Rapids. Her performance earned all-MIAC recognition.
After starting at defensive back for two seasons for Hamline University, former Tiger Lucas Jones is seeing the game from a different perspective this fall. A shoulder injury suffered in high school baseball had been bothering him for a couple years and after consultation with doctors the joint was found to be lacking proper blood flow. Jones is sitting out the 2010 Piper season but is staying close to the action by serving as a student assistant coach at the MIAC school.
Two other ex-Tigers, Michael Doherty and Trevor Davis, are seeing a lot of playing time for the Pipers. Doherty is a starting defensive lineman and last week in a 30-3 loss to Concordia, Davis was the team's third-leading tackler with five solos and two assists.
2001 Tiger three-sport athlete Luke Sturm is an assistant football coach at Wadena-Deer Creek High School and will serve as an assistant girls basketball coach at the same school this winter...1989 FHS male Athlete of the Year Matt Walter's Annandale football team finished the regular season 3-5 and will play at Zimmerman in the opening round of the Section 6AAA playoffs.
Carson and Tyler Jones, twin brothers who not only starred in baseball and football at FHS but later at St. Olaf College, are doing well in their post-collegiate professions. Carson is working at Baird Financial in Edina and Tyler is employed in a chemical analysis position for Legends Technical Services in St. Paul.
