Volleyball: Trojans trip Tigers in Missota finale

The Tigers stayed with New Prague through the first three games but ran out of gas in the fourth in a 3-1 Missota Conference loss to the Trojans, Monday, Oct. 18, in New Prague.
The Trojans won the first two hotly contested games 25-22 and 25-20 before the visitors rallied to win game three 25-13. New Prague regained control in the deciding contest, winning by a 25-18 count.
The loss left Farmington with a final regular season record of 8-18; 2-5 in the Missota Conference. New Prague finished 7-16 overall and 3-4 in league play.
Katie Habeck closed out her stellar Missota Conferecnce career with another good night. The 6-2 senior senior accounted for 21 of her team's 28 kills, a team-high 15 digs, 25 serve receptions and a pair of service aces.
Brook King chipped in with 34 serve receptions and nine digs. Mia Johnston and Andrea Smith led in set assists with 16 and 10 respectively. Jordan Bridges had a team-high five blocks and also added five kills.
Seeding for next week's Section 1AAA tournament takes place over the weekend and coach Mike Woody is expecting to land in the sixth or seventh position (out of 11 teams) which would mean a home match in the opening round scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 27.
Farmington is the defending section champion and Woody said that despite his team's sub-500 record, a playoff run is not out of the question.
"We have the talent to play with anyone in the section," he said.
